3 Ways Water Helps You Ignite Your Life

Water helps you live a better life.

I’m sure you’ve heard how water makes up about 60% of our body. It’s true!

So it’s essential to stay hydrated for maintaining our body temperature, body weight, improving blood oxygen circulation, and more.

Often we don’t want to drink a lot of water because we think we’ll be stuck in the toilet all day long. Read on and I’ll tell you the secret to staying hydrated but not having to run for the bathroom all the time.

What Does Water Do for Your Body

We’ve talked prior about the importance of water for healthy brain function. When your brain gets dehydrated, it won’t think as well.

There are many other physical reasons water is essential. For example, we need enough water to flush out waste from our bodies as well as regulating our body temperature.

Remember the last time you had a fever? Or had a great time dancing at the club? Or after a great workout?

Your body used its water reserves to sweat to cool your body down.

That’s why it’s essential to drink plenty of water regularly, and increase it a bit if you sweat.

drinking water helps your body function better

The one thing you should think of but probably didn’t

Water is essential for creating saliva which is essential for breaking down and absorbing nutrients from food.

If your mouth seems dry, we usually assume we’re thirsty. Unfortunately, by that point, we’re dehydrated.

One note and that is if your mouth seems to stay dry even if you’re drinking plenty of water, you may wish to see your doctor for a check up of your body and any medications you may be on.

Why Is Water So Important?

Water cushions our whole body to help it run smoothly. We use water to lubricate our joints as well as cushion our brain, spinal cord, and other tissues.

Our brains also need to stay hydrated in order to think better.

When we’re dehydrated, our blood can’t transport things as well. And that can affect our whole mood as well as athletic performance.

Can You Just Drink Coffee?

Not exactly.

Most people drink regular coffee which has caffeine. Caffeine is a diuretic. So when you drink coffee, you’re not getting enough water in to you compared to what the diuretic is pulling out of you.

Even decaff coffee has a little caffeine in it. It’s not much, so you should be fine with it.

Herbal teas have no caffeine and can count towards your daily intake of water. But be careful of black, green, and white teas. It does have caffeine. The longer you steep it, the stronger the caffeine.

You can also create “spa waters” by filling a jar with fresh water and adding in strawberries, or grapes, or sliced oranges or lemons. There are many wonderful recipes out there to create naturally flavored waters.

One of my favorites just uses fresh mint and cucumber slices.

So the bottom line is that pure water is truly the best. I completely understand wanting something flavored. Just read the label. Remember that artificial sweeteners can make your body think that it’s eaten something, and you’ll release insulin.

With no food in the system, your body can become what’s called insulin resistant.

So, if you need something sweetened, try to have that around a meal, being careful not to drink too much during the meal.

And have lots of fresh water throughout the day.

Water helps your body move better

Do I really Need to Drink THAT Much Water?

Often it’s not a matter of how much water you drink, but when you drink it.

If you suffer from any form of acid reflux or indigestion, you should drink less fluids when you eat your meals.

When you drink a lot of anything, you’re diluting the stomach acid, and it takes longer to digest a meal. That can lead to burping up bile which is uncomfortable.

You also feel more bloated after a meal because you’re not able to digest.

Beware of GERD

GERD or gastroesophageal reflux disease is something you want to fix as quickly as possible before lasting damage to your lower esophageal sphincter occurs.

When the stomach acid splashes up, it can scar the esophageal tissue. And that can lead to cancer.

So I recommend checking your diet and eating habits instead of taking antacids. It’s always better to heal at the source of the problem rather then masking the symptoms.

How Much Is Just Enough

The best habit is to sip water throughout the day rather than gulping down a quart and having to run to the restroom often.

When you sip slowly and regularly, your body is better able to absorb the fluid and process it to where it’s needed most.

When you gulp water, it tends to go straight through you. And that causes the frequent trips to the toilet.

how much water should you drink each day

Is it really 8 glasses a day?

The simple answer is no, it’s not

We get about 20% of our daily water intake from food if we’re eating properly. Fruit and vegetables have a good amount of water.

For women, you want to shoot for approximately 2.12L from beverages.

You also need to drink more if you exercise or live in a hotter region.

Let the color of your urine be a guide. If it’s dark, you’re dehydrated. You want to go for very pale or non-colored.

water helps ignite your mood

What is the importance of water in our body?

Our bodies just function better when we’re hydrated. Our brains think better. Our digestion processes better, and our joints are better lubricated.

This ensures we get peak performance when we’re playing sports too.

Does water really flush out toxins?

Yes it does. Although if you’re eating a poor diet, it’s not going to help you much.

When you eat a well balanced diet full of fresh, delicious, natural foods, you’re getting nutrients and fiber.

Water helps you digest and eliminate more easily. The fiber and nutrients help get toxins out and the water keeps it all moving along.

You’ll notice that your skin looks better as well when you stay hydrated.

My Final Thoughts

There’s only one substance that helps improve out mood, increase our brain power and our athletic performance, and helps us better regulate our temperature and weight.

That miracle is water.

All we have to do is give our body enough of it regularly throughout the day. If we exercise or drink things that act as diuretics (coffee and alcohol), then we need to drink more.

If you don’t like plain water, fancy it up a bit! You can brew tea and serve it over ice. You can add in sliced fruit or herbs to make a lovely spa water.

It helps to have pure water. I’ll talk more about filters later on.

So did this article make you want to get a cuppa or did it make you want to run to the restroom?
